Off Field

Palmerston Rugby Union Club holds several social events for both Seniors and Juniors throughout the season. We also have regular Club Nights / Player Teas on Thursdays after training. The year culminates in our Presentation Nights. The Senior Presentation Night is a gala night; in recent years it has been held at Cazalys. The Junior Presentation Night is held at the clubhouse, allowing families to catch up in a relaxed setting at the end of the season.

The club is run 100% by volunteers and it lives and dies on its members. On average over 100 people per season volunteer their time and energy to serve on committees, coach, manage, assist teams, help out at home games and functions and assist with fund raising events (and many people do several of the tasks mentioned). With this sort of commitment from our members, Palmerston Rugby Union Club has a strong future!

Past Players and Supporters

A true strength of our club is our past player and supporter network. We appreciate their enthusiasm for our reunions, the articles and photos they supply for Croc Tales and their giving up of valuable time to support fundraising and other events. It's great to hear our past players and supporters talk about their fond memories of playing rugby for the Palmerston Crocs. Stories from our reunions also demonstrate just how important the club has been in so many people's lives. The strong foundations of our club are a real asset and benefit all current members of Palmerston Rugby Union Club.

Old Salties

From time to time our past players strap on their boots for a run around the paddock. These are "easy, slow games for men who used to have talent"! Players just need their boots and their favourite Palmerston jersey (however we will have a strip to play in if needed) and then they're ready for action.

Active fundraising throughout the year allows our club to keep our costs down for our members. Without the valued support of our fundraising efforts, our costs to all members would increase considerably. Our major fundraising events include the Royal Darwin Show Clean Up and Bunnings BBQ's. We also support the Cash for Containers scheme and recycle all cans and bottles from the bar and at home games.

Community involvement

Palmerston Rugby Union Club is proud of its 35+ year association with the Palmerston community. Approximately 90% of our players live in the Palmerston or surrounding area. As well as providing the opportunity for players of all ages and abilities to train for and play rugby in Palmerston, there are a number of other ways in which we support our local community. These include holding rugby-related community activities throughout the year (such as a come-and-try rugby day and our junior 7s tournament) and allowing community use of our clubhouse and facilities.

Without the continued support of our sponsors our club would not be where we are today. We value the contribution of our players and past players with business interests, and will always support their offers of sponsorship, whether they be local businesses, from elsewhere in the Territory or from interstate.  We also believe in contributing to the Palmerston business community and wherever possible, we utilise local Palmerston businesses as either club sponsors or suppliers.

An example of our Sponsorship Proposal is available here.
