Palmerston Rugby Union Club fields teams in all age groups, from Under 5 through to Under 17.  Age groups are determined by the age of the player as at 1 January.  Teams are mixed up to Under 11 and girls are encouraged to play.

We play against junior teams fielded by other rugby clubs in the Darwin competition. The rules of the game vary according to age level.  Refer to the ARU TryRugby website for details.

All our team officials have an Ochre Card and it is a minimum requirement of our junior coaches that they have the SmartRugby safety qualification. Many of our coaches have further ARU coaching qualifications.

We provide all our junior players with the opportunity to experience rugby in a friendly and supportive environment. We value fair play and ensure that all our young players, regardless of ability, are given an equal go on game day. In the NTRU Junior competition, Under 5s through to Under 9s do not play for premiership wins. Good sportsmanship, skill development and player enjoyment are paramount.

Our club actively encourages and supports our older players and officials to compete at the highest levels and we strive to provide them pathways to achieve their goals. Over the years we have had significant numbers of junior players selected in NT representative sides and some have gone on to play in Australian school sides. We are also immensely proud of one of our former junior players who has gone on to international success: current Chiefs and All Black half back Tawera 'Narada' Kerr-Barlow played for Palmerston Rugby Union Club as a Junior player.

Interested players will need to submit an application form and potential scholarship holders will be interviewed by the club.  A fact sheet and application form is available at the clubhouse.
